Geri's B-Day!
Killington-Breadloaf-Wilson-Pico
The campground that we stayed at for the weekend had rabbits running around all over the campground.
They were saved from being stew meat by a local breeder who donated them to the campground
To celebrate Geri's B-Day we headed to VT for 3 days of hiking. On day 1 we hiked Killington.
This is the profile of the hike from our GPS.
It was a clear sunny day - temps around 75 degrees.
A view of Pico from the summit. We were suppose to take the Bucklin trail, but took a wrong turn and headed up a no-name trail - luckily it took us to the Long Trail a short distance from the junction to the summit of Killington.
The gondola was not running yet, but started up as we left. During the Summer they offer rides to the summit for montian bikers.
The cafe wasn't open yet either :< P&J for us.
A view of the towers on the summit
Geri managed to get ahold of the camera! Pico is in the background.
Geri enjoying being another year "better".
The final .2 miles to the summit was steep and rocky.
Geri on her way down.
Just below the summit is the Cooper shelter.
And the Cooper Pooper :>.
Back at the campground we chilled by the White River.
The river is not deep enough to jump off the bridge at this time of year.
After dinner we roasted marshmellows.
On day 2 we tackled Bread Load and Wilson peaks.
This is the profile of the hike from our GPS.
We choose the Emily Proctor trail.
Guess what we saw!
Here is a close up.
The moose was eating along the trail - we watched it for several minutes before it saw us and decided to head up the mountain. .
We had lunch at the shelter.
Geri enjoying her P&J - just as we started eating, it started raining - luckily we were at the shelter.
We did not have a view from Bread Loaf as it was in the clouds, but the weather cleared by the time we made our way over to Wilson.
By the time we got back to our car the sun had come out.
On day 3 we choose a quick trip to the summit of Pico.
This is the profile of the hike from our GPS.
It was a brisk sunny day with puffy white clouds. Here is a view taken from half way up the mountain.
And one from the summit.
A view of Killington.
Geri is picking out which peak we will summit next.
Although the weekend is almost over we are still having fun.
One last view of Killington before we hed back to the car.

I think it's this way......
