[22k JPEG Image]

Thursday morning we met Liz at the Broad cove putin in Bremen, Maine for the 1st of 4 paddles. This is the track for our GPS of the area we paddled.

Liz and Geri get ready to head out.

[22k JPEG Image]

A typical Maine harbor. The paddle took us past several islands, some of which we stopped at for lunch or rest stops.

[22k JPEG Image]

Many were low profile islands such as this one.

[22k JPEG Image]

Wonder what this house would go for? It is in need of some repairs.

Geri and Liz enjoying lunch.

[22k JPEG Image]

We were blessed with great weather throughout the weekend.

[22k JPEG Image]

We saw several groups of seals.

[22k JPEG Image]

Aren't they cute!

[22k JPEG Image]

A shot of the Broad Cove Marina - also sells lobster and clams which we can vouch for how good they are.

[22k JPEG Image]

Geri at the end of the paddle.

[22k JPEG Image]

Back at the campground Geri helped Liz put up her tent.

[22k JPEG Image]

Friday the marine forecast was calling for rain, thunder storms with hail and high winds . We opted to paddle on the lake the campground was on - sorry, but no pics :<.

[22k JPEG Image]

Saturday morning Mary, Liz and Geri enjoy a coffee while discussing the days plans.

[22k JPEG Image]

We paddled out to Eastern Egg Rock from New Harbor. This is the track for our GPS of the area we paddled. On the way out we saw harbor porpoises and seals within 20 feet of our boats!

[22k JPEG Image]

New Harbor is yet another typical Maine fishing harbor.

[22k JPEG Image]

Liz says hello to two of the women who were manning the research station on Easter Egg Rock.

[22k JPEG Image]

Mary and Geri were checking out the sailboat.

[22k JPEG Image]

The reason we paddled the 5 miles out to the island - Puffins!

[22k JPEG Image]

These birds are rather funny looking.

[22k JPEG Image]

You can't land on the island so we circumnaviagated it watching the birds on land, in the water, and flying.

[22k JPEG Image]

We were told that the research team counted 30 new nests this year.

[22k JPEG Image]

Liz and Mary.

[22k JPEG Image]

On the way back we stopped at Western Egg Rock and Hadock Island where we saw more seals.

[22k JPEG Image]

Mary enjoying lunch.

[22k JPEG Image]

Geri, Liz, MAry relaxing before we head back to shore.

[22k JPEG Image]

You tell me - just what was she talking about???

[22k JPEG Image]

Geri getting ready to head out.

[22k JPEG Image]
Mary teaching Liz how to hypotize a lobster before tossing it into a pan of boiling water.

[22k JPEG Image]

Silly pet tricks.

[22k JPEG Image]

Geri doing the dirty deed.

[22k JPEG Image]

The track of Sunday's paddle from Round Pond.

[22k JPEG Image]

Nice harbor with a few lobster pound's. This is where the July 4th parade was ending.

[22k JPEG Image]

Mary and a friend show off their patriotic spirit.

[22k JPEG Image]

We saw many Ospreys as we paddled throughout the islands.

[22k JPEG Image]

Caught this guy returning to the nest with a fish for the baby.

[22k JPEG Image]

We stopped at the Audubon visiters center.

[22k JPEG Image]

Geri and Mary checking out an old ship wreck.

[22k JPEG Image]

Lunch was at Strawberry Island.

[22k JPEG Image]

We arrived at high tide which made landing very easy.

Geri packing up after lunch.
We're going back next year - let us know if you want to join us!
