Todays goal was another peak on the Y-Alpine list - Kearsarge North - just outside of North Conway.

This is the profile of the hike from our GPS.

Although it is only 3.1 miles to the summit, this is a very deceiving hike. The book time is almost 3 hours. After 10 minutes of a flat trail it quickly heads upward at a steady somewhat steep grade.

30 minutes into the hike we came to an area of large boulders. On the way down we spotted a snake at this boulder.

The reward for reaching the summit is the now unmanned fire tower.

There are 360 degrees of views. Here we are looking at Mt Washington.

We met Dick Johnson on the summit - we met Dick last month on the summit of Mt Moosilauke wehre he was celebrating life - he has recovered from throat cancer. Congrats Dick!

At about the 2 mile mark you come across large areas of ledge with views.

Here you can see that the trail is dry and wide. This is a great hike that is minutes from North Conway. Plan on 2 hours to reach the summit, and 90 minutes to return. Be sure to bring bug spray - this is black fly season!
