19 Mile Brook - Carter Dome - Carter Moriah

Today's hike had two goals - summit the 3 Carter peaks and brush back/clear blowdowns on the trails. We accomplished the later, but not the first.

Tom, Jeff, and I spent 2 hours clearing blowdowns on the 19 Mile Brook trail, then an additional 2 hours on the Carter Dome trail up to Zeta Pass. After a rest, Jeff and I attacked the Carter Dome trail to the summit of Carter Dome. It took significant effort (3 1/2 hours) for us to find and clear the trail and return to the junction.

Catching up with Tom we continued our efforts to and past South Carter, but unfortuantly ran out of daylight about 1/3 of the way to Middle Carter. A return trip will be needed to clear this section of trail - stay tuned!

Directions to Trailhead
From Gorham head South @ 5miles on Rte 16 to the trailhead and parking on the left.
