North & South Hancocks
January 31, 2010
|
With cold temps and high winds forecasted for the higher summits, we decided on the Hancocks for todays adventure. We slept in and made it to the parking lot on by the hairpin turn by 10:45 - we thing a reasonable mid-morning start time.
As we were getting ready, Lei and her friend Mike came over and said hello. We had not seen Lei for a while, but no wonder since she is trying to become the 10th person and the first Aisan woman to summit the highest peak on each of the seven continents and hike to the South and North Poles. Read all about her at Lei's Ventures
We saw a total of 3 others today while enjoying blue skies and mild winds. We chose to do the loop clockwise ascending the North trail first, then made our way over to the South trail.
Throughout the day we had great views of the Arrow Slide on North Hancock - it seemed to be calling our names, so look for a trip report on a future hike there!
