East Osceola & Osceola
Greeley Ponds - Mt Osceola trails

Today we decided to sleep in for the Holiday and then started our hike at the crack of 11:15 AM. We pulled into to the parking area and were lucky to fin a couple of spots still open. After gearing up we headed out, both bare booting.
Light wind and cloudy skies stayed with us throughout the hike. The several stream crossings that we encountered were all frozen over presenting no issues. Shortly after starting up the Mt Osceola trail, Geri put on her mico-spikes while Bob continued to bare boot all day.
We saw a few folks making their way down the mountain and one guy enjoying the views from the lookout just before the summit of East Osceola. Continueing on towards the main peak we reached the Chimney to find it ice ladden. The bypass had a light layer of snow covering ice with the rocks exposed. This made for a quick scramble and we continued on to the main summit.
Reaching the summit in 2:40 from the time we started the hike, this was Geri's 25th NH48 of the Winter Season!. On our descent we took advantage of the steep inclines to glisade down the trail. We ran into two more hikers coming up, one of them being Rocket21.
Great day to be out hiking!
