Today we decided to hike the Tripyramids ascending the North Slide and descending the South Slide. We met Mark and Bryan at the Livermore parking lot and were under way a little after 9. The first 3.6 miles of the hike takes you up Livermore Road. From here you cross a stream and in 20 minutes hit the start of the slide.
The North Slide is made up of giant slabs with sections of smaller rocks and scree. It is extremely slippery when wet, so best saved for a dry day. AT the the top of the slide there is a large carin marking where the trail goes into the woods on your left. 15 minutes later you reach the summit. The entire way up the slide were enjoyed the wonderful foilage and the many other peaks we could see.
From the North summit we made our way over to Middle and South Tripyramid peaks. AFter a quick snack we started our way down the South Slide. This slide is shorter and made up of large rocks with many soft dirt/scree patchs which can give way if you are not careful. After reaching the bottom of the slide the trails become a gentle downhill dirt trail with 3 easy stream crossings.
Back to Livermore road we quickly covered the 2.6 miles back to the parking lot where we enjoyd cold drinks before heading out for the drive home.
Length of Hike: 6:15 hours
