Waumbek

January 30, 2010

Cold hike today - we started at 10:45 AM with the temp at minus 5 degrees. Bright blue skies and snow on the trees made for a beautiful background. Saw several groups of hikers, half wearing snowshoes and half not, although they should have.

Quite hike until we hit the chimney on Star King where we were greeted by several Grey Jays - fun time feeding them. Temp in the sun was 7 degrees, but as soon as we started out towards Waumbek it dropped back to below zero. Made a quick dash to the summit before heading back down to the car.
