Camping & Hiking
We always try to find time to fit a few camping/hiking weekends into our schedule. Hiking in the White Mountains in New Hampshire is our favorite. We do both day and overnight hikes - either tenting or staying in an AMC hut. On July 4, 2005 we completed our goal of climbing the One Hundred Highest Peaks in New ENgland!
Mountains we've climbed
Cycling
We both enjoy cycling and try to get in several rides each week. On weekends, we sometimes go on large group rides with the Granite State Wheelman, North Shore Cyclists or Charles River Wheelmen. During the Fall and Winter we turn to the woods and Mountain Biking.
Golf
Bob enjoys golfing from time to time and hits in the low 90's. Most of his golfing is on business trips. Geri has played a few times, but doesn't keep score.
In Line Skating
We both enjoy getting out for a spin on In Line Skates after a hard day at work. Some weekends we head to Hampton Beach and blade up and down the coast, which works out good - enough things to look at to slow Bob down!!. We both try to get out at lunch time for a few miles to break up the day.
Kayaking
In 1995 we took up Ocean Kayaking, and found yet something else to fill our time with. We soon found ourselves the proud owners of 2 Sea Lion kayaks. It's a great way to enjoy being on the ocean, while still getting some exercise. We live in an area with numerous places to paddle from the swift currents of the Merrimac River to the open ocean trip out to Isles of Shoals. Our all time favorite place to paddle is Casco Bay Maine with it's many small islands to explore. For information on the area and where to stay, check out our page on Harpswell Island.
We are active members of the North Shore Paddlers Network, a club that we are officers in and helped form.
Rock Climbing
In 2001 we took up indoor Rock Climbing. We climb at Vertical Dreams in Manchester. During the Summer of 2002 we tried outdoor climbing and enjouyed it very much - we started by taking a 2 day course with Chauvin Guides up at Cathederal Ledge in North Conway. Soon we were ordering our own gear and heading out on our own. WE'll never be experts, but it yet another way to enjoy the outdoors!
Running
We both fit some running into our workouts - anywhere from 1 to 3 miles at a time. Bob has entered a few road races and hopes to convince Geri to do a few as well.
Sailing
Whenever we can find a boat to charter locally, we enjoy going for day sails out of Newburyport, Marblehead, Gloucester, or anywhere else we can rent a boat. We have taken many courses, including a racing course. As much as we love it, we don't have our own boat, so most of our sailing is left for our vacations in the tropics.
Our Sailing Trips
Skiing
During the winter we turn to skiing. We enjoy both X-Country and Downhill. We have some XC trails that start near our house that can keep us happy for several hours at a time. We head North to New Hampshire,Maine, and Vermont a few times each Winter for skiing weekends and have also skied in many of the Colorado Ski areas.
Soccer
Another Winter activity that we both enjoy is indoor soccer. We both play once a week on a coed league and Bob plays one night each week on a mens leauge. During the Summer Bob plays at lunch with a group from work.
Scuba
Bob use to assist in teaching Scuba Diving and has done a lot of diving in New England. Geri took up Scuba Diving in 1996 so we could go diving together on our vacations. So far our favorite diving location is Saba.

Water Skiing
We both enjoy water skiing, but don't get to do it enough in order to improve our skills. Geri looks great on one ski, while Bob somehow manages not too injure himself on two.
